Developing a European Solar Initiative
About the European Solar Initiative BIP
The Business Investment Platform (BIP) is a unique platform for key stakeholders along the entire solar photovoltaic value chain to accelerate transactions between investees and investors.
€40 billion of front-loaded investment in photovoltaic production capacity is required to reach Europe’s targets for renewable energy supply. As per the “Fit for 55” and NECPs targets, it is anticipated that an additional 20 GW per year of solar photovoltaic will be required. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen our value chain. To bridge the gap between investors and investees, EIT InnoEnergy has co-designed a Business Investment Platform (BIP) together with financial institutions – public and private – and several core industrial partners.
The Solar Photovoltaic BIP selects high potential industrial projects to de-risk, accelerate and finance, by mobilising known risk and debt investors, PV ecosystem players and off takers. It mirrors the success of the European Battery Alliance (EBA) BIP, also run by EIT InnoEnergy.
