The need
Increased demand for high-performance materials with tailored properties makes nanocellulose one of the most promising and attractive material originating from renewable resources. However, the production process has been so far too energy-intensive to be commercially viable. The development was also hindered by the complex industrial implementation.
The solution
FineCell has developed a novel method to produce a nanomaterial originating from wood using substantially less energy and water in the process. The material itself has unique qualities and can be produced both as a gel and as a dry compound opening up multiple application possibilities including in solar cells and energy storage.
The value proposition
FineCell’s patented production method offers low energy consumption, low production costs and minimised environmental impact where only renewable chemicals are used. The nanocellulose can be tailored to fit different applications and easily transported.
