The need
Access to freashwater is quickly deminishing. The water treatment market is 500 billion USD today and growing at 20% per annum. Removing charged species from aqueous media is of interest in diverse water treatment applications.
The solution
Stockholm Water Technology develops low pressure, low cost & low energy electrochemical water desalination/purification systems based on Capacitive Deionisation. Units are highly modular and can be used in small to large scale operations. They use low-costs and widely available activated carbon cloths as electrodes, with a novel setup of assembling. Systems can be powered by small scale PV panels and are suitable for various applications: from off-gris desalination of well water to industrial waste water treatment (i.e mining).
